How Kate Middleton Dresses Off-Duty – Kate Seen in London in March 2020

It isn’t very often that Kate Middleton is photographed when she’s off the clock in the streets of London, but on Friday, paparazzi got a rare shot of her and her causal style. Pictures were taken of the Duchess of Cambridge while she was out shopping at the Waterstones bookstore by Kensington Palace, where she lives.

Kate was dressed in a baby blue Mulberry coat and matching turtleneck, which she paired with skinny jeans, black loafers, and a black purse. She wore her hair down and accessorized minimally with hoop earrings.

A source told Daily Mail that Kate was looking for “history and military-themed books for children” at the bookstore—perhaps for her two older children Prince George and Princess Charlotte. George is six while Charlotte is four.

Kate’s Friday outing comes one day after she and Prince William returned from their three-day royal tour of Ireland last week. The two were in the country from March 3 to 5. The couple was most recently out yesterday for Commonwealth Day service. Kate wore a red Catherine Walker dress coat with a matching red fascinator.

It was not the Duchess’s only event Monday either: Kate later hosted a gala dinner for Place2Be at Buckingham Palace. The Duchess of Cambridge dressed up in a navy beaded Jenny Packham gown.

The Kensington Palace Instagram shared footage of the event and wrote in its caption:

Happy 25th Birthday @_place2be—here’s to many more! The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron since 2013, hosted a reception at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the charity’s incredible work over the past 25 years. No child or young person should have to face mental health problems alone—and that has been the founding mission of Place2Be, whose teams across the UK have provided mental health services in schools.Speaking at this evening’s reception, The Duchess said: “Having visited many of your schools, meeting hundreds of your wonderful staff, children and young people, it is heart-warming to see that the support you provide is so much more than just being there in a time of desperate need”. #25yearsofplace2be
