And! Her birthday comes just two days after she dropped the surprise sister album to folklore, evermore.

On Thursday, she wrote, “Ever since I was 13, I’ve been excited about turning 31 because it’s my lucky number backwards, which is why I wanted to surprise you with this now. You’ve all been so caring, supportive and thoughtful on my birthdays and so this time I thought I would give you something! I also know this holiday season will be a lonely one for most of us and if there are any of you out there who turn to music to cope with missing loved ones the way I do, this is for you.”
Every year on December 13, the friends we all have long known as her “squad” post on their Instagram grids and stories to share their love for the singer. This year, she dropped an album 48 hours before her big day, and some of her friends posted on December 11th to celebrate evermore, which is basically a birthday celebration, in my book. This is her birthday-weekend album, after all!

The model and new mom might be busy back at work and caring for a newborn right now, but she didn’t forget her pal. “Wish we could be together to celebrate. Love u so much,” she wrote on her Instagram story.
Cara Delevingne
“Happy birthday, @taylorswift. You continue to inspire me and I’m so grateful for our friendship. Cheers to you queen,” she wrote.
Selena Gomez
Gomez, who has long history of friendship with Swift, celebrated her friend’s new album on her story.
Austin Swift
Swift’s brother, Austin, gave her a special shout-out for evermore: “as a brother and friend I couldn’t be more proud, as a lifelong fan I am thrilled beyond words, as a human being I am simply dumbfounded at this level of artistry and depth of insight into what it is to love and to lose and to simply exist. Now please stop reading this and go listen to evermore by @taylorswift !!!!!”
