Many know Hunter Schafer as the woman behind Jules Vaughn’s edgy eyeliner and metallic shadow on Euphoria. But beginning in 2021, the actress, model, and activist is stepping into an entirely new role—as Shiseido Makeu’s Global Brand Ambassador.

Details about Schafer’s campaign are still forthcoming, but if there’s anything the Gen-Z actress knows about it’s boundary-pushing facebeats. “When I look at Shiseido, I see a level of artistic energy that is really unique. As someone who likes to be artistic with makeup, that was something that instantly attracted me to the brand,” Schafer said in a statement. “Shiseido is about more than trying to look pretty or appeal to a specific standard of beauty. Shiseido is parallel to art.”

Schafer’s ability to draw outside the lines of traditional beauty standards made her an ideal fit for a Shiseido partnership. “We are so thrilled to collaborate with someone as creative, expressive, and authentic as Hunter,” James Boehmer, Global Artistic Director for Shiseido Makeup, said in a statement. “She really represents the current zeitgeist of beauty in that there are no rules, no boundaries, and no restrictions.” Boehmer added, “She continues to write her own narrative, which is what we encourage people to do with makeup.”

A second season of Euphoria—and much-needed resolution for Jules’s romance with her best friend Rue (Zendaya)—is still in flux after the pandemic postponed filming. But Schafer’s new venture shall tide us over until shooting resumes. “By partnering with Shiseido, I want to bring more visibility to the notion that you can move beyond one beauty ideal or standard. I’m about leveling up and finding your own frequency in makeup,” she said in a statement, a sentiment we can all co-sign.
