Cole Sprouse’s on-screen Riverdale dad Skeet Ulrich may have accidentally dropped a bombshell about Sprouse and Lili Reinhart’s off-screen relationship. Ulrich appeared with his girlfriend Megan Blake Irwin on her Instagram Live, where they were taking fan questions. One fan asked if he thought Reinhart and Sprouse are a cute couple.
“I think they were a very cute couple,” Skeet responded. Irwin echoed his use of past tense, even stressing the “were”: “They were a very cute couple. They’re both beautiful people.”

Of course, this is not direct confirmation from Reinhart or Sprouse. But some fans have speculated the two may have broken up back in April. Some started a rumor that Sprouse cheated on Reinhart with Kaia Gerber, something both Reinhart and Sprouse spoke out against. Other fans were concerned because they noticed Reinhart took down several photos of her and Sprouse together on her Instagram and that her mother and sister appeared to unfollow Sprouse. At the beginning of quarantine, Sprouse and Reinhart were in separate cities. She was initially quarantining alone in Vancouver.
The two have kept their relationship status more private since reports of them breaking up last summer spread. They shared birthday tributes to each other in the fall of 2019 (tributes that have since been taken down), but by the end of 2020 awards season, fans and outlets questioned whether they were still dating again after Reinhart and Sprouse avoided each other at the Vanity Fair Oscar after party.
E! spoke to a source in April who said they were still dating, although their relationship is pretty volatile at times. “Lili and Cole are still together,” that source said. “They haven’t been [in quarantine] together but haven’t split. Their relationship is always up and down but they do talk every day and care very much about one another. Lili and Cole have been trying to be more low-key.”
“The photos of Kaia at Cole’s house are old,” the source added. “Cole and Kaia are just friends and have never been romantic.”
