Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes let it be known to the paparazzi this weekend that they’re very much still dating and deeply in love. The couple was photographed walking their dog Tarzan in Los Angeles during the early evening Sunday and at one point, leaned in to share a passionate kiss that a photographed captured.
Mendes and Cabello weren’t wearing masks despite California’s COVID-19 mask mandate. They did not appear to be within six feet of anyone else though.
Cabello and Mendes have been dating for over a year now, with their romance initially starting in July 2019. Mendes spoke in November about how being in love with Cabello changed him fundamentally.
“A lot happens when you fall in love for the first time, because you really feel this support, this grounded, ‘Hey, if everything goes away, I’m going to be okay,'” he told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “It’s perspective, and it’s beautiful. And it really allows you to be like, ‘Okay, well, if I’m going to do this [make music, etc.], I might as well be doing it for the right reasons and really, really, really enjoying it.’ Otherwise, I’d just rather watch movies with you all day.”
Mendes added that self-love and care are essential above all, and he and Cabello prioritize their alone time, too. “You can not be the best version of a son or a brother or a boyfriend or a friend to anybody if you’re not constantly there for you, and you’re watching out for you, and you’re checking in on your heart and your space and your energy,” he said. “And the closer you get to that clarity and that freedom within you, the more space you have for everybody else in your life. And I think that that was something that really happened over that period too, especially with Camila and I, is that we started giving ourselves a lot more time, which then allowed us to give everything more time and space, if that makes sense.”
