Before the Prince and Princess of Wales, or even the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, there was simply the young heir apparent to the throne, Prince William, and a handful of bachelorettes.
It’s fairly well known by now that William first met fellow classmate Kate Middleton at the University of St. Andrews and ended up marrying her a decade later, in 2011.
But before his university years, the senior royal entertained several other romances—some of which nearly overlapped with his and Kate’s.
William has maintained a level of friendship with some of these past partners, including one of his first romantic interests, Rose Farquhar, whose wedding he quietly attended this past weekend.

Rose Farquhar
Farquhar is said to have been William’s first love. Though not much reporting exists surrounding the scope of her relationship with the prince, she and William have since maintained a close friendship.
Farquhar attended not only the wedding of William and Kate in 2011, but also that of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan in 2018. And most recently, on December 17, William was seen arriving solo at Farquhar’s wedding ceremony to George Gemmell in Cotswold Hills, where another of his exes and university classmates, Olivia Hunt, was also in attendance.

Farquhar has maintained royal associations of her own since her romance with William, currently assisting with special projects and business development for the Duchess of Rutland’s Belvoir Castle, according to her LinkedIn page. She also famously auditioned for The Voice U.K. in 2016.
Isabella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe
Perhaps his most serious love interest apart from Kate, Calthorpe—an aspiring actress and socialite—first met William during a summer trip to Greece while the prince was allegedly on a break with Kate. William was immediately smitten with her, per the Daily Mail, but was ultimately turned down over her professional pursuits.
"He had fallen for her in a huge way and wanted to be with her," a source told the outlet. "He propositioned her several times that summer and although Isabella was single, she knocked William back and said it would be too damaging for her and her career."

The prince later got back together with Kate, who took him back "on the condition that he would not speak to Isabella again," per the source.
Olivia Hunt
Just prior to Kate, William briefly dated Hunt, another one of his former University of St. Andrews classmates.
Carly Massy-Birch
William additionally dated Massy-Birch, also a classmate from college. While recounting her relationship with the prince during a 2010 conversation with Vanity Fair, Massy-Birch cited herself as a "real country bumpkin" and said it’s the reason she felt she and William got along.
"I think that was why we had a connection," she told the magazine. "William was in the year below, and we just happened to meet through the general St. Andrews melee. It’s such a small place that it was impossible not to bump into William, and after a while there was nothing weird about seeing him around. We got on well, but I think we would have got on well even if nothing had been going on romantically. It was very much a university thing, just a regular university romance."
Jecca Craig
William met Craig in Africa during his pre-college gap year in 2000, while visiting her family’s Kenyan wildlife reserve as part of his service trip. There was allegedly a slight overlap between his relationship with Craig and that with Kate due to their blurred title as an item—and per royal biographer Christopher Andersen in his book Brothers and Wives, it was ultimately King Charles III who set William straight.

Davina Duckworth-Chad
Duckworth-Chad briefly and casually dated the prince back in 1999, per various reports, after joining him on a cruise along the Aegean Sea.

Also from a family of old money and royal ties, she is the heir of Norfolk landowner Old Etonian Anthony Duckworth-Chad—and her brother, James Duckworth, is a former equerry to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Arabella Musgrave
Musgrave—daughter of Major Nicholas Musgrave—dated William briefly before the prince attended university, though later got serious with one of William’s friends, James Tollemache.
