See Kate Middleton Shine in a Red Sequined Gown Ahead of Christmas Carol Service

Princess Kate has rung in the royally festive season.

ITV has released a preview for the Princess of Wales’ Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey, which the royal is leading for the second year in a row. In the festive portrait, Kate poses in front of an elegant Christmas tree in a decorated room, wearing a shimmering red gown that the princess previously wore during a state reception in January 2020.

The sequined midi-length gown by Needle & Thread features a cinched sequined bodice, long sheer sleeves covered in floral appliques, and short decorative ruffles along the collar, shoulders, and elbows. The princess accessorized the look with a pair of ornate earrings, while wearing her hair in loose curls.

The second iteration of the carol service, which will take place on December 15, plans to pay homage to the life and legacy of the late Queen Elizabeth II, who died at 96 years old this past September. It include carols sung by the abbey’s world-renowned choir and musical performances and readings delivered by special guests from across the United Kingdom.

Last year’s program, which was also held at a festively-decorated Westminster Abbey, honored those individuals and organizations who supported their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to hosting, the princess took part in a surprise piano performance, accompanying Scottish singer Tom Walker on his song "For Those Who Can’t Be Here."

Kate also wore a stunning red look for last year’s festivities, comprised of a bright-red coat dress by Catherine Walker, red pumps by Gianvito Rossi, and carried a red clutch.
