‘Peloton Wife’ Doesn’t Want a Peloton Bike for Christmas

We may never know if Grace from Boston actually wanted a Peloton for Christmas. But you won’t find the $2,245 stationary bike beloved by Ivanka Trump on actress Monica Ruiz’s holiday wish list.

Ruiz plays Grace in the company’s divisive new commercial about a husband surprising his wife with a Peloton. The spot quickly racked up 8.8 million views on YouTube, along with online criticisms for being sexist, classist, and tone-deaf. The internet also voiced legitimate concern for Ruiz, whose facial expression throughout the 30-second clip is, as someone pointed out, “straight terror.” (“It’s like an episode of Black Mirror,” one Twitter user wrote; “Save the Peloton Wife!” said another.)

Ruiz assured the world she’s alive and well—and not trapped in a dystopian alternate universe—on the Today show. Now, the mother of two is anxious to leave Pelotongate behind and celebrate Christmas with family, food, and lots of gifts. Here, Ruiz tells ELLE.com what she’s asking for this year:

Lip sleeping mask

Laneige

“This lip mask is amazing. I tend to have dry skin and my lips get chapped easily and this helps better than anything I’ve tried. You can put it on during the day for a nice thick protective layer or sleep at night with it. It has a light pink sheer color that’s really pretty, too.”

Ice roller

Stacked Skincare
stackedskincare.com

$30.00

SHOP NOW

“Ice rollers for the face are amazing. Sometimes I retain water or don’t sleep well and my face just looks puffy. These gadgets are amazing and very effective. Such a good gift to get someone who maybe doesn’t know they even exist!”

Yellow cotton baby swaddler

Magic Sleepsuit
magicsleepsuit.com

$39.95

SHOP NOW

“Both of my babies loved to be swaddled, but once they can roll over it’s not safe to swaddle them. This was something that gave me peace of mind and kept them on their backs safely until they were older and stomach sleeping is safer.”

Razor delivery kit

Dollar Shave Club
dollarshaveclub.com

$16.00

SHOP NOW

“My husband loves Dollar Shave Club. They send you new razors every month and they’re so much cheaper than the store bought name brand ones. He never complains of razor burn so I believe they are pretty good quality.”

Tampon subscription box

Lola
mylola.com

$10.00

SHOP NOW

“For women, a good monthly subscription that’s actually a lot better for us is Lola. You can choose your own box based on your needs and they have liners and wipes as well. You can choose frequency of delivery and skip months if you end up with too much and need to hold off for a while. They always give you a warning when something is ready to ship so you can decide.”

Holiday scent candle

Nest Fragrances
bloomingdales.com

$42.00

SHOP NOW

“Nest candles smell so good and even when they aren’t lit, you can smell their fragrance. I love so many of their scents but the holiday scent is perfect for Christmas time.”

Rose water shampoo

Pantene
cvs.com

$7.99

SHOP NOW

“I love this rose water shampoo and the conditioner is great, too. It’s cheaper than the salon brands I also use but it’s rich and smells so good. It leaves my hair feeling really soft and doesn’t leave any residue. And it’s sulfate free!”
