Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift have been friends for over a decade and have kept most of their intimate moments off-line. But tonight, Gomez was missing Swift—and posted a tribute to her longtime friend for Swift and her millions of other Instagram followers to see. Gomez shared a gallery of never-before-seen photos of her and Swift during a private hangout. “Kinda missin this one,” Gomez captioned it. Gomez poses with Swift and Swift’s cat Benjamin Button in the photos.

Swift and Gomez haven’t been publicly seen together in some time. The coronavirus pandemic, of course, has made it much harder to gather with people indoors outside of quarantine bubbles. Work has also separated the two: Gomez has been in New York City the past couple months, shooting Only Murders in the Building and adhering to set COVID-19 guidelines.
Swift, meanwhile, was last seen in Los Angeles at the Grammys. But Swift generally manages to keep a low profile and has also spent time during the pandemic abroad in London, where her boyfriend Joe Alwyn’s family is based, and in Nashville, where her own family lives.
Gomez and Swift also generally prefer to keep their relationship to themselves and not post content every time they hang out. Gomez spoke about this decision and how it allowed them to become so close in an interview with WSJ magazine last January.
“There’s so much of my friendship with Taylor that people don’t know about because we don’t necessarily feel the need to post about everything we do,” Gomez started. “She has showed up for me in ways that I would have never expected. Flown in because I was hurt and was going through something. Stuff that was going on with my family. It’s been proven year after year and in every moment of my life that she is one of my best friends in the world. We don’t agree on everything, but we respect each other with everything.”
Swift also spoke glowingly about their bond, telling the outlet, “There has always been this quality of sisterhood, and I don’t say that in a basic way. I knew from when I met her I would always have her back. In my life, I have the ability to forgive people who have hurt me. But I don’t know if I can forgive someone who hurts her.”
“We both went through sh*t at the same time,” Gomez told WSJ. “She taught me a lot about how I should be treated at a young age.”
