2020 isn’t exactly the year to whisk your family off on a big far-flung trip. There’s a global pandemic going on, people. But that doesn’t mean we can’t all find some fun, relax, and check in with ourselves—even if we stay close to home to do it.
Per Hello! magazine, this past week, Prince William and Kate Middleton took their three kids, George, Charlotte, and Louis for a little staycation on the Isles of Scilly off the coast of Cornwall, where William spent time with his family as a boy. William and Kate visited the destination in 2016, and William reminisced about times spent there with his mother, father, and brother in 1989.
“William and Kate were riding their bicycles, having a laugh,” a local source told the magazine of the Cambridge’s recent trip. “They looked so happy enjoying the weather.” Another source said: “They decided on a quick getaway before the children return to school. They were keen to support our travel industry.”
The couple supposedly returned back to Norfolk and their home, Anmer Hall, on Friday.
Their trip follows Prince George’s 7th birthday, which was on July 22. To celebrate their son’s big day, Kate and William shared new photos of him with the public.
Ah, 7. The age of the tooth fairy and taking adorable pictures like this:

Prince George is third in line for the throne, after his grandfather Prince Charles and his father, Prince William. But right now, he’s just been concerned with getting an education during a pandemic. This spring, his parents homeschooled him and his siblings, which was no easy task, Kate admitted in an interview with the BBC.
“Children have got such stamina. I don’t know how, honestly. You get to the end of the day and you write a list of all the things you’ve done in that day. You’ve pitched a tent, take the tent down again, cook, bake, you get to the end of the day. They’ve had a lovely time. It’s amazing how much you can cram into one day, that’s for sure.”
