La Prairie is unapologetic with price tags, uncompromising with unique packaging design, and continually pushes the limits on science-driven ingredients (hence the pricing). Its new eye cream, La Prairie White Caviar Eye Extraordinaire, is no exception. One jar, complete with a ceramic eye roller shaped like a pearl, is $550. In a word, it’s decadent.
The eye cream wouldn’t be a 2020 Anti-Aging Award winner based on the jar alone. The rich cream inside is unlike anything we’ve tried—a feast for the eyes in the most literal sense. Most brightening eye creams address darkness and dryness under the eye, but that’s only part of the equation. For truly illuminated under-eyes, a cream needs to address all forms of discoloration—including yellow and red—as well as the hollows and textural issues that can create shadows and lines. This eye cream is particularly great for daytime, as you might want to use a formula with retinol at night. It applies beautifully under makeup, and you’ll find you need less concealer day by day.
