Mass food deliveries to local hospitals. Clapping at 7 p.m. each night. Rainbow signs plastered on windows. The world has shown its support and appreciation for healthcare workers on the front lines of the global crisis, and on Saturday night, April 18, the biggest names in music gathered (virtually) to honor the healthcare community. The Global Citizen’s Together at Home benefit concert in support of the World Health Organization featured artists such as Lizzo, Jennifer Lopez, and Kacey Musgraves, who performed a beautiful rendition of her song “Rainbow.”
“I just wanted to say a sincere thank you to all the people out there risking their lives to get everyone through this crazy time,” she said from her Nashville home. “Thank you, it means so much to me. I’ve also been really loving seeing everyone’s rainbows in their windows. It’s inspired me to sing this song for you.” Musgraves played the piano and sang “Rainbow” from her album Golden Hour, as images of people drawing rainbows on the sidewalk and hanging images of rainbows in their window played onscreen.

Lady Gaga helped organize the virtual concert and kicked off the program with a rendition of Nat King Cole’s “Smile.” Billie Eilish, Stevie Wonder, Keith Urban, Taylor Swift and more performed, and Beyoncé stopped by with an important message. The two-hour special also honored healthcare workers by featuring inspiring stories directly from the frontlines of the COVID-19 crisis.
