There’s typical Instagram boyfriends who will begrudgingly but lovingly take your outfit of the day photos and share a birthday tribute to you, and then there’s Alex Rodriguez, who will post a nearly 2-minute video to IG TV proclaiming to the world how much he adores you on the one-year anniversary of his proposal to you in the Bahamas. Jennifer Lopez, of course, got that treat last night. A-Rod shared a video compiling candid footage of them together over the last year, including shots of him popping the question to J.Lo on the beach. It’s very extra and very sweet.
It also included a gushing caption. A-Rod wrote:
One year ago on a beach in the Bahamas…. I was a nervous wreck, more nervous than my entire playing career, I got down on one knee and asked you a question… you said yes ❤️.Jennifer, every moment with you is a blessing. You are my best friend, my inspiration, an amazing mother, and a role model to all. Macha, I am so lucky to be with you. Thank you for making my life better. J.Lo responded ecstatically in the comments, writing, “😭😭😭♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ YOU! That’s all I have to say… 😭♥️♥️💍🌟”
Lopez has spoken before about why she and A-Rod are such a great match. She told GQ in the fall that they’re very alike.
“I mean, we’re very similar,” she said. “We’re really alike in our drive, in our ambition. He’s an athlete. He wanted to be the best. I’m the same way. I just want to be great at what I do. We’re both like that. We’re both super-hard workers. We’re driven by our passions. And we have a tremendous amount of respect for each other. Everybody in the room can be talking, and if he says something, I key in on it, and if everybody in the room is kinda in his ear and I go, ‘I don’t think that’s the right thing,’ he’ll hear me; he’ll listen.
