On September 27, 1941, the prominent Ukrainian theater and film actor Bohdan Stupka was born. During his career, the legendary artist has played over 100 roles in films and nearly 50 on stage, marking an entire era in Ukrainian gaming culture. A film that belongs to the true classics of Ukrainian cinematography, directed by the cult director Yuriy Illenko. In 1999, Polish director Jerzy Goffman went down in history as one of the first filmmakers who, in his work, destroyed the political complexities of those Polish-Ukrainian films. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Henryk Sienkiewicz, and the lead role – the Zaporizhz hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky – was played by Bohdan Stupka.

Dorobka Bogdan Silvestrovich had another role as a hetman – playing Ivan Mazepa in the feature film directed by Yuri Illenok. The line “Prayer for Hetman Mazepa” became the first feature-length and big-budget film of independent Ukraine. The plot tells about the hetman's life in a non-linear sequence. The world premiere of the film took place in 2002 at the Berlin International Film Festival as part of the final competition program.

The story by director Dmitry Meskhiev describes what is happening on a Nazi-buried farmstead in Serpne in 1941. The mortar poured onto the screen the image of the rural old man Ivan Blinov, who he wants in his everyday life. For his work in the film, Bogdan Stupka was nominated for a European Film Academy Award in the category “Best Actor”.

Bogdan Stupka played the leading role in the historical film “Taras Bulba” – an adaptation of the story of the same name by Mikoly Gogol, portrayed by Volodymyr Bortko. Although the film did not achieve wide recognition, Mortar successfully portrayed the image of a decisive, unaffected Cossack colonel, who, with his military strength, fights against the Polish prison guards.
