Neo Heliopan 310: Symrise's new high UVB absorption filter

The Germany-based manufacturer completes its range of sun protection solutions with Neo Heliopan 310, a new organic crystalline UVB filter that offers superior absorption capacity, excellent solubility and high compatibility in a wide range of personal care and beauty formulations.

The latest addition to Symrise’s UV filter portfolio is an organic UV filter with superior absorption capacity. Dubbed Neo Heliopan 310 [1] it reaches an absorption peak of 310 nm due to its three chromophore groups.

High protection and flexible use

According to Symrise, it is also one of the most photostable UVB filters on the market and thus offers a very good safety profile and provides photoaging prevention properties.

As far as formulation is concerned, Neo Heliopan 310 has an excellent solubilization profile. The substance is highly compatible with other cosmetic ingredients. It thus helps customers achieve high sun protection factors (SPFs) in a wide range of applications, including sunscreen, anti-aging, and anti-wrinkle products, serums, and lotions.

Its reliable performance and its excellent solubility make it ideal for water-resistant sunscreens and water-free formulations as well as typical emulsions.

Last but not least, Symrise’s Neo Heliopan 310 is approved for use at up to 10% in sun care and skin care products in the European Union, Mercosur, ASEAN, and China.

Increasing global demand

Symrise’s range of UV filters entails a complete portfolio of organic, inorganic, and mineral solutions.

At Symrise Cosmetic Ingredients, we strive for continuously enhancing our UV filter portfolio with solutions like Neo Heliopan 310. Our product is giving answers to regulatory requirements known from traditional UV filters and it also provides strong UV protection and photoaging prevention. Thus, our offering fulfills the needs of customers and consumers alike,” says Julio Bombonati, Global Category Director Sun Protection at Symrise.

Sun protection becomes increasingly important for consumers around the world, and consumption rates are steadily increasing as awareness regarding the risks associated with excessive sun exposure is growing.

However, consumers are also seeking innovative textures with enhanced sensorial qualities, such as the ultra-lightweight sun care formulas popularized by Korean and Japanese brands.
