A psychological thriller about the secrets of a wealthy family
Lionsgate has released the first trailer for The Handmaid's Tale, starring Amanda Seyfried and Sidney Sweeney, Variety reports.
The film is based on the novel of the same name by Frieda McFadden, which became a New York Times bestseller and took TikTok by storm. Amazon reported that the book, which was first published in 2022, has sold over two million copies worldwide. After its wild success, the author released three sequels: The Handmaid's Tale, The Handmaid's Tale, and The Handmaid's Tale.
This is a story about Millie, a young girl with a dark past who has almost lost hope of finding a job. However, the main character starts working as a maid, so she moves to the luxurious estate of the Winchester family. The ideal wife Nina, her attractive businessman husband Andrew and daughter Cecilia are like a gift of fate for Millie. But gradually the girl's life turns into a mixture of nightmares and temptations, the price for which may be too high. It turns out that each resident of the Winchester estate has his own secret.
Millie is played by Sydney Sweeney and Nina is played by Amanda Seyfried. Brandon Sklenar and Michele Morrone also join the cast.

The film adaptation was directed by Paul Feig, who promised that the upcoming film would not only preserve the spirit of the book, but also convey the incredible chemistry between the actors.
The film will premiere in Ukrainian cinemas on January 1, 2026.
