Traditionally focused on the production of closures and “large dose” pumps for the personal care, industrial products, home care and food & beverage sectors, TriMas Packaging has recenly undergone a major strategic shift by investing heavily in the luxury sector. This year marks the culmination of this strategy with the launch of several pump production lines for the perfume sector in the Netherlands, home of Aarts Packaging, acquired in 2023.
Known as one of the world leaders in dispensing systems for both liquid and viscous products, including pumps and sprayers as well as closure and capping systems, for toiletries and personal care products, the US group is looking for new growth drivers in the prestige beauty segment, particularly in perfumery. The acquisition of Dutch company Aarts Packaging in 2023, which specializes in the manufacture of high-end closures, make-up cases and lip gloss packages, provided TriMas an excellent platform for rolling out this roadmap.
New perfume pump assembled in the Netherlands
“As part of our expansion into the luxury sector, we are marketing in Brazil a perfume pump made in partnership with an Asian company. From the end of 2024, this pump will be assembled at our Aarts Packaging site in the Netherlands, to be marketed in Europe, with an initial planned capacity of 100 million pumps,” explains Hervé Bichon, Vice President Sales, Beauty & Dispensing Systems at TriMas Packaging.
TriMas has invested in two, soon to be three, lines dedicated to the pumps, and intends to soon be able to produce the pumps’ engines on the same site, where plastic injection, decoration and metallization capacities are already available.
According to TriMas, the new pump, which was successfully launched in Brazil, has already been approved by several major European brand owners. It is available in crimp-on, snap-on and screw-on versions with different actuators.
“We are well-positioned to become one of the top three producers of this type of pump in Europe. Customers are delighted to see us enter this market because it will give them greater flexibility,” highlights Stéphane Frémiot, European Sales Director, Beauty & Dispensing Systems, TriMas Packaging.
A range of fully recyclable mono-polymer lotion pumps
After several steps of improving the sustainability of its skin and body care pumps, TriMas recently launched Singolo, a range of fully recyclable, single-polymer dispenser pumps, available in 2 and soon 4-cc doses, as well as an all-plastic foam pump.
The range is also available with PCR options and can be customized for different viscosities and container designs.
