Sophie Robert-Velut named CEO as Expanscience enters new era of governance

Effective May 5, Sophie Robert-Velut — formerly Chief Operating Officer for Dermo-Cosmetics, Rheumatology, and Dermatology — has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Expanscience Group by Jean-Paul Berthomé, who remains President.

The group markets the Mustela and Babo Botanicals brands, as well as rheumatism medications and cosmetic and nutraceutical ingredients.

Thus, Expanscience’s executive management will now be led jointly by Jean-Paul Berthomé, who will continue to oversee major strategic directions, and by Sophie Robert-Velut, who will be responsible for designing and implementing the group’s strategy with the support of the Management Committee.

The French dermo-cosmetic and pharmaceutical laboratory aims to secure its financial independence and the family-oriented identity of the company, as well as its financial and non-financial performance.

For over five years, Sophie Robert-Velut carried out this ambitious strategic vision, a source of development and innovation. Her leadership, convictions and ability to mobilize teams have been key in growing our company responsibly. I thank her for the progress achieved and reaffirm my trust in her as she takes on her new role. I know that with Sophie, our company will continue to extend its history and grow meaningfully in line with our mission to help people shape their well-being,” said Jean-Paul Berthomé.

This shift in governance is accompanied by a restructured Management Committee, with the nomination of three new members, as of May 12: Marguerite Laborde, Mustela Chief Operating Officer; Florence Pin, Healthcare Chief Operating Officer; and Konstandinos Katsianakos, Market Chief Operating Officer.

The Management Committee also includes: Etienne Auriau (Chief Financial Officer), Caroline Baudouin (Chief Innovation, Development, Regulatory and Vigilance Officer), Yves-Edouard Desombre (Chief Operations Officer – Interim Manager), Emmanuelle Dumas (Chief Communication & Corporate Philanthropy Officer), Alexandra Jolivet (Chief Human Resources Officer), Karen Lemasson (Chief Impact and Open innovation Officer) and Armelle Le Peniec (Natural Active Ingredients Chief Operating Officer).

Created by my father in 1950, Expanscience is B Corp certified and aims to become a regenerative company by 2040.

I want Expanscience to be recognized as a pioneering company, capable of steering other economic and political players into business models with a positive impact. This mission goes hand in hand with the company’s success, which comprises our ability to strengthen our financial health and growth in dermo-cosmetics (Mustela and Babo Botanicals), rheumatology and well aging, and cosmetic and nutraceutical active ingredients markets. And in this project, our employees’ commitment is key,” said Sophie Robert-Velut.
