Just days after Prince Philip’s funeral Saturday, Prince William and Kate Middleton did their first public event on the Queen’s birthday today. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the Air Cadets at 282 East Ham Squadron in London—an engagement that paid tribute to Philip’s military service and patronage work. The pair wore dark navy as the family remains in mourning following Philip’s passing. Kate wore a Dolce & Gabbana military coat dress with her hair curled and middle-parted. She paired it with matching Tod’s block heels and a clutch.
No one work masks outside despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in the U.K., but they wore them indoors. Mask wearing in outdoor public spaces is not mandated in London, but many U.S. states do require it. It is unclear whether Kate or William has been vaccinated yet against the disease, but they did appear to maintain a little social distance while outside.
On their Kensington Royal Instagram, Kate and William’s team wrote about the significance of their first engagement post-funeral.
