Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s relationship is far from fully repaired following breakup reports earlier this month and the couple’s statement that they are still together but “working through some things.” But E! got an update this week on how the couple’s efforts are going, and according to the multiple sources the outlet spoke with, things are promising.
One source close to the couple said that J.Lo is “smitten” with Rodriguez’s “big gestures” to win her back. A-Rod notably flew to the Dominican Republic, where Lopez has been shooting Shotgun Wedding, to be there in-person to repair things after reports they had split.
“Alex remains committed to working on things with Jennifer,” E!’s source said. “It was important to Jennifer that Alex stepped up in a public way and showed his level of commitment to her with a trip to see her while working. Jennifer appreciates big gestures like these.”
That source also said progress is being made: “Things between the two of them are heading in the right direction.” The source added that the work on their relationship will continue after filming too: “The couple plans on living together in Florida as soon as production [on Shotgun Wedding] finishes in April, while continuing work on their relationship and various joint business projects.”
A second source revealed Rodriguez traveled to the Dominican Republic again this past weekend. “He is making a huge effort to show her that their relationship is his number one priority,” that source said. “They both realized that spending a lot of time apart wasn’t helpful. He had the opportunity in his schedule where he could go and be with her and that’s what they both wanted. He was originally supposed to visit every two weeks but he wanted to go sooner and she appreciated that.”
E! noted that it is unclear whether the two still plan to get married. A source previously told the outlet that Lopez, along with her friends, had deep-seated doubts about Rodriguez given his cheating scandals and reputation.
That source said earlier this month, “Jennifer’s friends for a long time had warned her that A.Rod was not a good guy and that he was using her to clean up his tarnished image after his many scandals. For years, Jennifer did not listen to the warnings, but now she believes them.”
