Katie Holmes is very much in love, Us Weekly is reporting, and going full speed ahead with her romance with New York City chef Emilio Vitolo Jr. But her family and friends are a little skeptical, a source said.
The source explained that the two are getting “serious” despite only having dated for a few months. (Holmes and Vitolo were first linked in September. He called his engagement to designer Rachel Emmons off “abruptly the second Katie showed some interested,” a source told People in September.)
“Katie has been on cloud nine ever since Emilio came into her life,” Us’s source said. “She doesn’t care what people may say about rushing into the romance. In her mind, this is the real deal, they’re riding a beautiful wave together, and she’s already decided it’s got the potential to go all the way.”
“Emilio doesn’t seem to have a negative bone in his body and he treats her like a total princess,” the source added. “For the first time in longer than she can remember, there’s a guy by her side whom she knows has her back no matter what, and that counts for so much.”
Friends and family, however, have “some concern” about the speed at which their relationship is progressing, although they understand she is a grown woman who can make her own choices, per Us Weekly. “Nobody deprives her of that [freedom], and if she wants to make things official with Emilio, then the common view is good for her,” the source said. “She’s got some seriously protective friends and family though, so he’d better carry on treating her this well if he knows what’s good for him!”
