It's been a decade since Beyoncé last walked the Met Gala red carpet. In 2016, she appeared in a floral-embellished latex couture gown designed by Riccardo Tisci as creative director of Givenchy. In 2026, Beyoncé will once again take center stage at the Met Gala, this time as a co-host of the year's biggest fashion event, alongside Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour.

Beyonce has always taken thematic dress codes seriously. This is clearly visible in her recent major projects. In the Cowboy Carter era, she worked with a western aesthetic, and during the Renaissance tour she created the image of a modern disco diva. That is why everyone is waiting to see how Beyonce interprets the theme of the Costume Institute’s 2026 exhibition — Costume Art. We would like to see her in archival looks by Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Lacroix or Dilara Findikoglu.
The singer has been to the Met Gala seven times. She first appeared at the Met Gala in 2008, when the event was dedicated to the exhibition Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy. Since then, Givenchy has taken a special place in her Met Gala wardrobe. For her last five appearances at the ball, Beyoncé has chosen individually created looks from the French brand. They were designed by Riccardo Tisci, former creative director of Givenchy.
In 2012, Beyoncé appeared at the Met Gala in a couture dress with an ombre effect. It was complemented by a purple feather train. In 2014, she chose a mesh dress with a plunging neckline and a matching veil that covered her eyes. The following year, the singer returned to the Met Gala in another almost transparent look, embroidered with crystals. But her most daring appearance was probably her appearance in 2015: a transparent Givenchy dress not only corresponded to the theme of China: Through the Looking Glass, but also preceded the fashion for “naked” dresses, which later became one of the main trends of the red carpet.
While everyone waits for Beyoncé to return to the 2026 Met Gala, we're looking back at every look she wore at the biggest fashion event of the year.
