Kelly Clarkson & Brandon Blackstock Split: She Files For Divorce After Nearly 7 Years Of Marriage

It’s time to start singing some sad songs, because Kelly Clarkson and her husband, Brandon Blackstock, have reportedly filed for divorce!

It’s time to start playing either “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You),” “Miss Independent,” “Cry,” “Since You’ve Been Gone,” or any other cuts from your “Kelly Clarkson Breakup Songs” playlist on Spotify. After nearly seven years of marriage, Kelly, 38, and Brandon Blackstock, 43, filed for divorce on June 4 in a Los Angeles court, according to the documents obtained by HollywoodLife. These initial documents don’t indicate why the couple is splitting – just that the curtain has fallen on their marriage.

Kelly and Brandon tied the knot in 2013, and they have two children together: five-year-old daughter River and four-year-old son Remington Alexander. The soon-to-be ex-couple have been socially distancing with their kids – along with her stepchildren, Seth, 13, and Savannah, 18 – on her ranch out in Montana. “It’s a really beautiful ranch, and it’s a nice getaway for our family,” she said in a March 31 YouTube video. “It’s something Brandon and I have dreamed about since we were both kids. This is what we would call home.”

This split comes seemingly out of nowhere. During the Dec. 22, 2019 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly spoke with The Voice winner Brynn Cartelli. During the talk, Kelly indicated that her sex life was still on fire. “Well, Brynn, I was single for many years, so I have children. And how one makes children is generally what I do before bed. That’s not a lie. That’s real, and it’s not weird. It’s natural.”

“Brandon’s totally the one. I’ve never been so happy,” Kelly said in a 2013 interview with Cosmopolitan. We’ve known each other for years, but we didn’t start talking until the Super Bowl last February. And this is the funniest/worst thing ever: One of my superhero idols is Whitney Houston, and the day she died was our first date. I was like ‘This is a bad omen.’” Despite the omen, Kelly said that things turned out great between them. “Six years, I was single before this. I’ve never been truly loved like I am right now.”

The only possible sign that there was “trouble in paradise” was that Kelly and Brandon recently put their $10 million Los Angeles home on the market. However, Kelly and her husband/manager have many homes across the country. In fact, this rustic mansion in Encino is not the only property they have on the market. They’ve been trying to sell a property in Lebanon, Tennessee, for over a year now, and they’ve put a lakefront mansion in Hendersonville, Tennessee, up for sale.
