BTS’ big week celebrating the release of their album Map of the Soul: 7 continued last night with their appearance on The Tonight Show. The boys filmed segments at iconic New York City locations, including Grand Central Station (where the main lobby was shut down so they could perform “ON”), a subway car, and Katz’s Deli on the Lower East Side (no, the boys are not familiar with the When Harry Met Sally scene there, but had a blast anyway).
The venues gave the group the chance to show off two different, top-notch streetwear looks. RM, V, Jungkook, J-Hope, Jimin, Suga, and Jin—well dressed wherever they go—really outdid themselves, showing off their individual styles.
The boys were dressed a little more casually for their subway and Katz adventure. V had the most preppy look of the group, wearing a burnt yellow v-neck sweater with a collared white top, tan pants, and brown loafers. Jungkook and Jimin wore jean jackets with black pants and shoes. Jungkook’s look, from Balenciaga, had the design house’s name written on it. Suga and J-Hope leaned into a more cozy aesthetic. J-Hope went full New Yorker in all black, while Suga stuck to earth tones in an army green long sleeved top and dark pants. RM had the most vibrant print—an open blue plaid flannel top with black pants, white sneakers, and a white top. And Jin stuck to a classic black and white look. Everyone was casual but polished.
Clockwise from left to right: RM in plaid, V in yellow, J-Hope in black, Jin in white, Jungkook in the jean jacket and black turtleneck, Jimmy Fallon, Jimin in the jean jacket, and Suga in the dark green top.
In those looks, the boys did Jimmy Fallon’s Subway Olympics tournament. The challenges weren’t too crazy, but the boys got into the games:
They also made sandwiches at Katz’s:
But the most jaw-dropping visual from the boys’ Tonight Show appearance was their doing “ON”—with all its background dancers and intricate choreography—in New York City’s Grand Central station.
The boys coordinated in black and white outfits: Jungkook, RM, Suga, and J-Hope all wore different style leather jackets while V and Jimin were in all white. Jin incorporated both black and white into his look, wearing a light gray and white jacket with his black top and pants.
