Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Attend J.P. Morgan Miami Beach Event

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are slowly reemerging into the public eye now that they’ve stepped back from their senior royal family roles. E! reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their first joint event appearance in the United States last night in Miami.

The couple stopped by 1 Hotel in Miami’s South Beach for an “exclusive J.P. Morgan event,” the outlet wrote.

A source told E! that “they came in through a private entrance. They did their speech and left before dessert. She introduced him and he spoke.” Security was high at this event, and no photos have come out yet of Meghan and Harry there. The couple, at this point, has not posted about the engagement on their SussexRoyal Instagram account.

Meghan and Harry have spent the past couple weeks quietly in Vancouver Island. When announcing their intention to step back from their senior royal family roles, Meghan and Harry indicated they plan to split their time between the UK and North America. “We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honor our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages,” they said in their statement. “This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.”

Reports this week hint having a residence in the U.S. is part of that plan. People and E! reported that Meghan and Harry are looking at houses in Los Angeles, Meghan’s hometown, for the summer.

“They love being in Canada, but they are looking at houses in L.A. too,” a person in their circle said. “They’ll likely have houses in both places.”
