“The main goal is to want to get a little relief from the pain and darkness”: interview with MONATIK before the concert

“I hope this day will go by without worries and we can do everything in one go,” says Dmytro Monatik. We meet two days before the concert. The show is planned to be more grandiose and symbolic: it was all the fate of MONATIK to support the Kiev Palace of Sports for the first time, and on the 20th of April they suddenly presented their fourth album “The Ever-Dancing People”, a work on which three rokiv.

We talked about the changes in the mood of the music, there was tension and those who lost Dmitry’s support at the folding clock. The same goes for the story of how the driving forces and anxious hours come to light at the same time.

The album “Eternally Dancing People” contains 32 compositions – songs, verses, skits (a short musical phrase that is popularized in hip-hop. – Ed.). This is one story, hearing how metamorphoses can occur in you. “There, even cruel emotions are captured, and faith in love is lost – not so much in people, as in love for those closest to you,” Monatik shares.

At this time, Dmitry’s main support is his family: “If there were no family, there would be no music.” This is the value the artist transfers from his creativity conceptually. Thus, work on the new album began with the exhibition of paintings “The Views” at the fall of the year 2024, after which it became clear that there was a presentation ahead of the fourth great studio album. At the time of the team discussions, the idea came up to celebrate the new album with concerts in different locations, thus showing their different sides. “Once you know the concept, it is already inhaled, and it becomes easier to collapse further. Those grains, once planted on the cob, begin to sprout in the mudra tree and churn,” as the spivak says.

There are already two concerts behind, one of which took place in the Ukrainian House. The idea of running a show at the exhibition center was propagated by director Serhiy Nekleva, as well as theater director Ivan Urivsky, who decided to create a stage-platform in front of the dress as it opens. Dmytro guesses how well he was prepared for this adventure: “I understand that this Maidan is extremely foldable, this is an exhibition center. But they bribed me on top – again a symbolic four and a new cry, which we love in the team.” Thus, the artist gave the audience drive and positive emotions, and also opened a new concert location in Kiev.

There are two more concerts ahead. The closest one is a symbolic turn to the Sports Palace. How much has MONATIK changed in all the events that have passed since the first concert? “Having grown old, like everyone else. Having grown up,” he admits, “the greatest fear in my life has always been a fatal illness and war, and now, it turns out, I live with my fear, until there is a sound. It turns out that it’s so I can live.”

Before the skin concert, Monatik and his team are preparing for the largest scale. Vogue.ua just attended a rehearsal with the artist and Freedom Ballet dancers. It will be smart, stylish, talented. “The main goal is to charge people with energy. We would like to get a little relief from the pain and darkness, control the teleport in the classroom and tell the world about the future,” says Dmitro. At the concert at the Palace of Sports you can catch the performance of Monatika with the Ukrainian Vikonavians, the tracks of which have been included in the new album.

The fourth and final concert of the premiere cycle will be held at the National Opera of Ukraine with the participation of the Presidential Orchestra. The show, of course, is planned to be both epic and innovative. To the question “Why would you be afraid, yakbi is not music?” Monatik inexplicably confirms: “I adore advertising. Because if it’s not music, then it would be in advertising, perhaps, in some kind of creative agency.”
