Hollywood Life has rounded up all the details about Daniel and Drew’s latest film, Queer.

What Is A24’s ‘Queer’ About?

Queer follows William Lee, who “recounts his life in Mexico City among American expatriate college students and bar owners surviving on part-time jobs and GI Bill benefits,” according to its official synopsis, per IMDb.

“[William] is driven to pursue a young man named Allerton, who is based on Adelbert Lewis Marker,” the rest of the synopsis reads.

Luca Guadagnino — famous for his films Call Me By Your Name and Challengers — directed the film.

Who Are Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey’s Roles in ‘Queer’?

Daniel plays the role of William Lee, and Drew plays Eugene Allerton. While attending the Venice Film Festival, the co-stars opened up about the intimate scenes they shot for the film.

“You know as well as I do, there’s nothing intimate about filming a sex scene on a movie set,” Daniel pointed out, according to Deadline. “There’s a room full of people watching you. We just wanted to make it as touching and as real and as natural as we possibly could.”

The No Time to Die star also complimented Drew, saying that he’s “a wonderful, fantastic, beautiful actor to work with, and we just, we kind of had a laugh,” adding that they “tried to make [filming the scenes] fun.”

Drew also revealed how he and Daniel prepared for the movie, noting that they “jumped into movement rehearsals pretty early on.”

“And I think not just in the intimate scenes, but throughout the course of the movie, that really freed us up and freed what was happening in the air, and it freed our bodies up, and we felt open to try new things,” Drew explained. “I’ve never had an experience like this, to really dive into one moment in a story and explore every avenue possible. I mean, I’m not a dancer. Daniel’s definitely not a dancer. But I think we learned. I think we got better together.”

‘Queer’ Release Date

A24 recently acquired the rights to Queer, so a nationwide release has not been revealed yet.
