Prince Harry’s Friend JJ Chalmers Said This Was Harry and Meghan Markle’s Reason for Their Big Move

This week, some of the biggest news to hit the world, beyond about a million other things going on, was that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are stepping back as “senior” members of the royal family and will be splitting their time between North America and England.

This is huge news for the royal family, especially because it appears that even Queen Elizabeth might have been slightly blindsided by it. Despite the fact that the new parents put out a statement explaining their decision, there have been a lot of questions and reactions surrounding this unprecedented royal move. Apparently, it has fallen on the couples’ close friends to speak for them following this bombshell news.

Prince Harry’s close friend, JJ Chalmers told People that Harry and Meghan made this call for one very specific reason.

“He’s less the captain in the army I knew, and he’s more a father that’s the first thing I ask him about,” Chalmers said. “And I think the decision that he has made, at the forefront of that is to protect his family, because that’s the number one rule is to be a father and to be a husband.”

It does seem that Archie, Meghan and Harry’s eight-month-old son, is the main reason why the couple are taking this huge step back from the usual life of royals. After a year of tabloids and scary moments, it’s truly not a shock that Harry and Meghan might want to make a change of some kind. They made a point to mention their son in their Instagram statement on Wednesday.

“This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity,” they said.

There is plenty more to come here, especially because the couple has not yet announced exactly where they will be living.
