Streaming giant Netflix is preparing a gift for fans of the “princess of pop music” Kylie Minogue. On April 22, the service officially announced the launch of a three-part documentary project dedicated to the life and career of the Australian star.

What awaits the audience?
The upcoming series, which has received the concise title Kylie, promises to be the most candid look at the path of the Australian superstar, whose fame has lasted for almost five decades. According to Netflix representatives, Minogue will open her personal archives for the first time to tell about the life that still inspires entire generations. The series will show unique footage from home video archives, exclusive personal photos that have not been published before, as well as new interviews with the artist herself. In addition to Kylie, the project will involve important people from her environment: sister Dannii Minogue, ex-boyfriend and colleague on the series “Neighbors” Jason Donovan, as well as legendary musician Nick Cave.
From “girl next door” to world legend
Kylie Minogue's journey began not with the music scene, but with the Australian soap opera “Neighbours”. The documentary series will trace her rapid rise in the 1990s and the resilience that has allowed her to remain at the top almost 40 years after the release of her debut album Kylie (1988). Viewers will be shown all the ups and downs: from the devastating criticism in the nineties to the global triumph with the album Fever (2001), which gave such hits as Can't Get You Out of My Head and Come Into My World. “This project is a celebration of the joy, unity and euphoria that shape the Kylie we know,” Netflix notes.
Struggle and healing
The series focuses on the topic of health, in particular, the singer's struggle with breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with in 2005. Despite the fact that a year later doctors confirmed her recovery, Kylie admits that she still experiences this experience. “I sing to get through it. I write to get through it. I perform to get through it. And sometimes it seems to me that I live for the sake of performing,” the star shared in an interview.
Who is behind the creation of the project?
The documentary is directed by Emmy Award-winning director Michael Hart, who has already established himself as a master of the biographical genre with the successful Netflix series Beckham and the moving Michael J. Fox film Still, which was released on Apple TV.
