What is a culture of health?

During Soviet times, the entire country performed gymnastics exercises in the mornings and during work. Many people were skeptical about these practices. However, doing these exercises strengthened the body and toned muscles. But what's happening now? Most people lead a sedentary lifestyle, spending most of their time at the computer and at a desk. This leads to a host of problems: scoliosis, excess weight, osteochondrosis, radiculitis, and so on.

According to VTsIOM data from 2010, only 11% of Russians are satisfied with their health, while 23% rate it as poor or very poor. Thus, a large number of Russians do not feel completely healthy.

It is well known that each person's health depends on their lifestyle, social well-being, morale, and environmental factors. A healthy culture encompasses a harmonious combination of all these components.

A completely healthy person feels healthy both physically and mentally. As the saying goes, “a healthy mind resides in a healthy body,” but most people forget this saying.

A person's moral state, their peace of mind, and confidence in the future are the foundation of a healthy culture. Of course, not everything in this regard depends on the individual. We cannot be entirely responsible for the environment, the economic state of the country, or other problems that subsequently affect our mental state. However, each person can make a contribution to this cause. For example, by not littering the streets, parks, and natural environments, quitting smoking, conserving water, and so on. Marcus Aurelius said, “To place one good deed after another so closely that not the slightest gap remains between them—that is what I call enjoying life.”

It's also important to learn to manage your inner state, appreciate every little thing, love your loved ones, and strive for your desired goals. A person living without a purpose will always feel empty and unable to enjoy life.

Regarding physical health, the situation is as follows. Public policy is primarily aimed at preventing disease, with only a small portion devoted to prevention. Therefore, people must learn to prevent illness themselves. It is essential to give up bad habits (smoking, alcohol abuse, overeating, etc.), maintain normal blood pressure, exercise regularly, attend regular checkups, and get vaccinated against infectious diseases.

Everyone should get into the habit of regularly undergoing preventive checkups. International and Russian experience proves that early detection of illness ensures more successful treatment. Remember that good health is not only the result of a healthy lifestyle but also the timely detection of problems.

A healthy lifestyle is the foundation of disease prevention. Take care of your health, because it's a person's most valuable asset! Enjoy life and contribute to the health of the environment around us.
