It is better for spouses to sleep in different beds.

A recent study found that co-sleeping can be a cause of divorce. Ten percent of couples may break up because one partner wakes up at night due to the cold.

Every adult has probably experienced this at least once: You suddenly wake up in the night feeling cold and realize that the person you're sharing your bed with has pulled the covers over themselves.

As British sociologists have discovered, in Foggy Albion, an over-tightened blanket is the second main cause of family quarrels after snoring.

Although the most sensible solution to this situation would be to buy a second blanket, 10% of survey respondents said they would break up with their partners if they didn't stop regularly stealing the blanket. In one in ten couples, such conflicts occur twice a week or more.

A survey commissioned by Premier Inn hotel chain surveyed 2,000 people in marriages or stable cohabiting relationships. Half of respondents reported experiencing snoring from their spouses or partners, and 20% reported losing two hours of sleep each night as a result of snoring. It is the most common cause of marital discord.

Other reasons besides snoring and pulling the blanket were:

– allowing children to sleep in their parents' bed;

– sleeping on the “other” half of the bed (if the partner moves there during sleep);

– touching warm skin with cold feet;

– a lamp that stays on for a long time at night, with the help of which the waking spouse or partner reads a book.

On average, 167 family quarrels a year break out between partners due to uncomfortable sleep situations.
