How to lose weight in four days with the Mexican diet?

The Mexican diet became famous thanks to Mexican actress Victoria Ruffo, known in Russia for her role in the TV series “Simply Maria.” The diet lasts only four days, during which, according to nutritionists, you should lose four kilograms without a trace. The menu is strictly scheduled daily.

Pros and cons of the diet

The Mexican diet is primarily chosen by those looking to lose weight quickly, for example, before an important event. After all, four days fly by. This diet is also suitable for those who can't imagine life without coffee. The varied menu is also a huge advantage, since, as is well known, mono-diets, where only one food is allowed, are considered the most difficult.

Perhaps the only and most noticeable drawback is the small portions. Portion sizes cannot be increased. Furthermore, since the diet was developed for residents of Mexico, a warm country, it doesn't mention warm drinks. Apart from coffee or tea, it's supposedly only water for the first two days. This isn't suitable for those living in central Russia and wanting to get in shape in winter, as they constantly crave hot tea to warm up in the cold season.

Diet menu and comments

Day 1. On the first day, you should eat one orange and two eggs for breakfast. You can drink coffee or tea, both without sugar and milk. You can season the eggs with cumin or other spices. This will definitely not add extra pounds. Vera Ivanchikova, personal archive

For lunch, you're supposed to eat a handful of prunes, soaked in water (to soften them). Despite this seemingly insignificant amount of dried fruit, the lunch is quite filling. Especially considering the rather substantial breakfast.

Dinner includes one orange and one egg. The orange can be replaced with grapefruit for variety. After all, the Mexican diet is known for its variety.

Day 2. For breakfast, drink a cup of tea or coffee and eat up to 100 grams of low-fat cottage cheese and/or hard cheese. There's no requirement to eat only cottage cheese or only cheese, so you can have a piece of each if you wish. Vera Ivanchikova, personal archive

Lunch is also quite filling: an orange and an egg. You can drink some tea, but don't overdo it (not 0.5 liters). Vera Ivanchikova, personal archive

Dinner was rather unusual: a glass of milk and a medium-sized pear. Again, despite the portion appearing small, it was quite filling.

Day 3. Breakfast is limited to a cup of tea or coffee. Coffee is generally very filling, and a 300 ml cup will easily keep you full for the entire morning.

For lunch, according to the diet plan, a tomato and cucumber and a piece of low-fat cheese—up to 100 g. This is actually a lot of cheese, as a typical piece of cheese weighs no more than 20 g. Vegetables can be eaten whole or chopped into a salad. Spices are allowed. Vera Ivanchikova, personal archive

For dinner on the third day you can drink only a glass of milk.

Day 4. For breakfast, on an empty stomach after a meager dinner the previous day, have a serving of muesli with milk. It's very important to try to find good muesli, without a lot of sugar. Vera Ivanchikova, personal archive

Lunch, like the previous day, is vegetables. But without the cheese. The classic recipe calls for “cucumber and tomato salad, undressed.” So, you don't even need to chop the vegetables. It's just cucumber and tomato. But you can also make this unusual salad without dressing. Vera Ivanchikova, personal archive

Dinner on the last day is two oranges, which make a delicious smoothie. Dinner is filling, as two medium-sized oranges are still 300-400 grams.

If you follow all the instructions and recommendations, then in these four days you will lose a few extra pounds, and, what is much more important, you will feel lighter throughout your body.

The Mexican diet is easy to follow because it includes a variety of foods that, incidentally, can be purchased at any grocery store. This further adds to its benefits.

A nutrition expert from Daily-menu.ru says: This diet is low in calories and not recommended for long-term use. Due to the reduced food volume and calorie intake, the body will lose excess fluid, resulting in a weight loss of up to 2-3 kg. However, after returning to a normal diet, the lost weight will return. A balanced diet is best for guaranteed, safe weight loss.
