It's not beauty, but rather perception, that helps women enjoy sex, according to the authors of a new study.
According to their data, women endowed with “emotional sensitivity” (able to better express their own feelings and sense their partner) experience twice as many orgasms as reserved ladies.
“This research shows that emotional sensitivity is an advantage in many areas of life, including in bed,” says Tim Spector of King's College London.
Professor Spector surveyed more than 2,000 women aged 18 to 83. He asked them to rate their ability to achieve orgasm on a scale of 1 to 7, from “never” to “always.” The participants then completed a test designed to determine their level of emotional sensitivity.
The results showed that those who are more willing to give in to their feelings experience more pleasure from sex, the study's authors report in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
The researchers hope their work will help women who don't get enough pleasure from sex (40%, according to the survey) resolve their problems. Improving your emotional sensitivity isn't easy, but overcoming excessive inhibitions in bed is entirely possible, the experts believe.
