A good tan excites sperm

For a long time, scientists were puzzled by why lovemaking on vacation results in pregnancy more often than intimate encounters in private. Recent research has shed light on this mystery. It turns out that sunlight has a very positive effect on sperm.

This is the conclusion reached by a team of scientists at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire. The doctors analyzed sperm samples from 11 healthy and 20 infertile men. It turned out that semen activity is directly related to vitamin D levels. The higher the vitamin D level, the higher the likelihood that lovers will soon have to share their affections three ways. Conversely, if the body suffers from a vitamin deficiency, it can lead to fertility problems altogether.

There are several ways to overcome vitamin D deficiency in the blood. First, you can supplement your daily diet with dietary supplements. However, the surest way to create a favorable environment for sperm is to sunbathe more often. However, scientists warn that too much sun is also harmful: although you may feel like a lion in bed, your health will be irreversibly damaged. Excessive tanning can lead to skin cancer.

New Hampshire doctors are confident that sunbathing can already be prescribed as a reliable remedy for infertility. However, not everyone shares their optimism. Richard Kennedy, secretary of the British Fertility Society, stated that while the findings are interesting, dozens of experiments would be needed to confidently declare a link between vitamin D and sperm motility. “There is experimental evidence that vitamins can improve sperm quality and concentration, but it has not yet been proven that their effects can be translated into benefits for fertility (as scientists call men's ability to produce offspring, – ed.),” he noted. “Currently, it is believed that any benefit from vitamins is less than the negative effects of smoking and alcohol.” Basically, quit drinking and smoking first, and then head to the seaside.
