The band Das Wortspiel — a duo of vocalist Maryana Golovko, best known as the lead singer of Novaya Opera, and composer Max Smogol — have released the track “Vidmova,” which will be the first track on their upcoming album Chapter II. According to Maryana Golovko, “Vidmova” is a song that grew out of “a very familiar state for many, when you get rejected for support, but in the end you try to channel the energy of disappointment into creativity.”
The artist says that the track was born from her very personal experience, after several refusals in grant support for Mariana's projects. The experience, which usually leaves behind bitterness and despair, this time turned into a creative gesture – as a way to answer “no” in the language of music. “I felt this call, not to fall into a state of demotivation, but to direct the energy of disappointment into creativity, that's how the lyrics for the track appeared, to which Max later wrote very aptly music,” says Mariana Golovko. “I felt how rejection can become a catalyst, an impetus for change. It was this track that broke the silence in our duet.”

The visual part of the release emphasizes the same idea of living, unfiltered truth. The artwork for the single's cover was created by artist Anna Zvyagintseva, who consistently advocates for art without the use of AI. That is why the cover of “Rejections” is a real, living illustration, made by hand.
Das Wortspiel is a duo of vocalists Maryana Golovko and Max Smogol, born at the beginning of the full-scale war between artists in Berlin. Their first joint work was the debut album Chapter I, released in 2023: a sincere, very personal musical reflection on the state of the war and the events of 2022. The release of the new album Chapter II is scheduled for the end of 2026.
