New actors and unexpected plot twists: everything about the third season of "Euphoria"0 Share On April 12, the third season of one of HBO's most popular shows, “Euphoria,” will be released. Zendaya, Sidney Swinney, Jacob Elordi will return to their roles, and Sharon Stone and singer Rosalie will also join the cast. Read about everything that awaits us in the new episodes of “Euphoria” below.

What happened after the end of season two

The second season of Sam Levinson's Euphoria ended in 2022. The road to a third season was long and arduous. Constant script rewrites, delays, and other difficulties made many fans worry that the series might be “buried” in development hell altogether. But no — a third season is already approaching.

Let's remind you that “Euphoria”, which tells about the life of difficult teenagers, centered on the 17-year-old at the time of the series' beginning, Rue, played by Zendaya, started in 2019, and the second season was wildly popular: record-breaking views, endless discussions on social networks and memes after each episode. The interest was so great that even HBO confirmed: “Euphoria” has become the most talked-about series of the decade. So it's no wonder that everyone is already eagerly awaiting the third season.

What will the third season be about?

The new season picks up with Rue, Cassie, Cal and the rest of the cast five years after the events of season two. They're no longer in school, and judging by the first trailer, their lives are becoming increasingly dramatic. “The childhood friends struggle to understand the nature of faith, find a path to redemption, and unravel the question of where evil comes from,” reads the new season's synopsis.

Recall that the season two finale, in which Jules and Rue broke up and the character Jacob Elordi was arrested, left many questions unanswered. So I really want to believe that at least some of them will be revealed in season three.

Roo's story is partly inspired by director Sam Levinson's personal experiences, so she will continue to be at the center of the plot. The events begin in Mexico: Roo is in serious debt to Lori. She is in a difficult situation and is trying to find a way to survive and pay off her debts.

“I think it's going to be interesting to see the characters after high school. I want to see what Rue becomes on her journey to sobriety — and how chaotic it can be,” Zendaya told The Hollywood Reporter. “And how they're all trying to figure out what to do with their lives after high school and who they want to be. The thing about season two was that we got to delve deeper into other characters. I think we can develop that even more in season three. There are so many talented, vibrant people — you want everyone to get their moment.”

What we saw in the trailer

At the end of March, HBO released a trailer for the new season. It begins with a scene where Rue is being interrogated. “Have you ever been to Mexico?” the officer asks. And then there are shots of her life… where she is involved in drug smuggling. “In the beginning, we had to decide who we are and what we want,” Rue's voice sounds. In parallel, we see: the wedding of Cassie (Sidney Swinney) and Nate (Jacob Elordi), Jules (Hunter Shafer) in her studio, Lexi (Maud Apatow), who is making her way in Hollywood, and even a cameo by Sharon Stone.

“But we had no idea how far we were willing to go,” Rue continues. “In the end, whoever you are and whatever you want, we are all accountable to God,” the heroine concludes.

Judging by the trailer, “Euphoria” is getting even more dramatic and darker.

About the music in the third season

A big part of Euphoria's DNA is its strong music, which helps create the show's psychedelic atmosphere. According to Sam Levinson, he wrote the third season while listening to the soundtracks for Interstellar and True Love. It looks like season three will take things to the next level. According to Variety, Oscar-winning Hans Zimmer has joined Euphoria's third season as a composer, working on the music for some episodes.

“I am honored to join this incredible team of storytellers, led by the visionary Sam Levinson,” Zimmer said in a statement. “Together, they have created such a bold and moving series that means so much to audiences. Labrinth's music has shaped the identity of the series, and I look forward to contributing to the story and helping shape this new season through music.” Musician Labrinth, who scored the series for the first two seasons, is also set to return to work with Zimmer, whom he called “one of my heroes in film music.”

We will see new episodes of “Euphoria” starting April 12.
