Analyze and make a decision

To truly assess your wardrobe, start with the things you keep “just in case” – those that are waiting for the mythical “someday”. The first and very effective step is to completely empty your closet. Lay everything out on the bed. Yes, it may seem overwhelming, but this is often the turning point: seeing everything together, you will easily understand what you are ready to say goodbye to.

Next, form four categories:

  • keep;
  • under question;
  • sell;
  • to give to charity.

This approach breaks the process down into manageable steps and helps you honestly feel your own feelings about each item. Once you've sorted all your clothes into categories, go through them again—this time more carefully. Very often, at this stage, the “sell” and “give away” items become much larger than they initially seemed.

Organize

Take your time with the things you've decided to leave behind. There's no right or wrong approach here—just follow your own logic and comfort.

We recommend one of the following ways of organizing:

  • by colors;
  • by type of items (blouses with blouses, jeans with jeans);
  • by personal favorites that you wear most often.

Optimize storage system

Before you put things back in the closet, it's worth thinking about how to use the space more efficiently. A well-thought-out storage system is half the battle. Pay attention to modular wardrobe solutions, as well as details: lightweight storage boxes of different sizes and the right hangers.

Metal hangers, like those you find in dry cleaners, and plastic models are not the best option. Instead, thin felt or wooden hangers are ideal for even small spaces. Felt does not leave creases in the fabric and prevents clothes from slipping, maintaining their shape.

Separate styles and seasons

To prevent your closet from becoming overcrowded, it's important to clearly separate things by season. Out-of-season clothes should be stored in large boxes. If you have a pantry or basement, this is an ideal place. If not, consider vacuum bags, which allow you to remove excess air, reducing the volume of things to a minimum.

Use the space outside the closet

Accessories don't have to live inside your wardrobe. Bags, shoes and jewellery can be stored creatively, using space outside the wardrobe. Use the back of doors for hanging organisers, store jewellery in vertical racks instead of drawers (leaving drawers for items that need horizontal storage), and don't forget the walls – wall hooks and holders can be not only practical, but also decorative. After all, an organised wardrobe is not only about convenience, but also about the pleasure of making daily choices.
