“Queen of the Ring”

A gripping biographical drama about American boxer Christy Martin, played by the charismatic Sydney Sweeney, star of “The Handmaid's Tale.” The film tells the story of Christy's rise to the status of America's most famous boxer in the 1990s and the attempt on her life by a man in 2010. With depth and drama, 28-year-old Sweeney plays the boxer who became the first woman to sign with legendary promoter Don King and became a symbol of women's boxing of her time. But behind the records and fame was a difficult fate, and this is precisely what the actress, who was given the opportunity to expand her role in the film “Queen of the Ring”, manages to subtly convey.

“Mark through Sophia's eyes”

Sofia Coppola's film “Marc by Sofia” shows Marc Jacobs through archival footage and work on a new collection. For twelve weeks, Coppola filmed the preparation of the spring-summer 2024 show, dedicated to the designer's 40th anniversary. The viewer sees Jacobs in detail: he carefully selects fabrics, works with scenography, monitors every detail – from makeup and hairstyles to accessories that complete the looks. For him, a show is a theater, a “seven-minute performance” where every detail is important. The film features materials from different stages of his career: his graduation collection at Parsons, the legendary grunge line for Perry Ellis (1992), which changed American fashion, his years at Louis Vuitton and his collaboration with Takashi Murakami. Coppola builds the film as a cinematic moodboard, where Jacobs' world is formed – his inspiration, aesthetics, and way of thinking.
