“Wuthering Heights”, Emily Bronte

The KSD publishing house has republished Emily Bronte's novel “Wuthering Heights”, and now is the perfect time to read it, because on February 12, a film of the same name starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi will be released in Ukrainian cinemas. A typical novel of the mid-19th century usually told a touching love story between children from two Victorian estates located next door. In the end, they got married and lived happily ever after, and their families visited each other in an aristocratic idyll. In “Wuthering Heights”, Emily Bronte deviates from the canon of that time and makes the central character a true antihero – Heathcliff, cruel and vengeful, who is in a difficult love relationship with Katie. The couple experiences tragic love and various trials of fate, and it will be extremely exciting to immerse yourself in their passionate story.

“In the absence of men”, Philippe Besson

A sensual novel by French writer Philippe Besson tells the story of a love affair between a soldier and an aristocratic teenager. The events unfold in Paris in 1916, on the eve of World War I. The main character, a romantic sixteen-year-old Vincent, falls in love with a French soldier, Arthur Valles, and meets the famous writer Marcel Proust. The relationship between the soldier and the teenager mostly exists in letters – it is there, among the lines full of sensual secrets and revelations of his first passion for the French infantryman, that his journey of adulthood begins.

“Modern Ukrainian prose and poetry in Vogue Ukraine”

The second volume of the collection “Modern Ukrainian Prose and Poetry” includes new works by sixteen prominent writers, written especially for Vogue Ukraine. The theme that runs through the entire book is feelings and sensuality: the authors write about love and passion, about love crises and finding oneself in relationships. That is why this collection is worth paying special attention to in the most passionate month of the year.
Among the authors are Serhiy Zhadan, Yuriy Izdryk, Sofia Andrukhovych, Iryna Slavinska, Haska Shiyan, Irena Karpa, Halyna Kruk, Artem Chekh, Lyubko Deresh, Anna Gruver, Artur Dron, Karina Savaryna, Roman Malinovsky, Yevheniya Podobna, Roman Holubovsky, Misha Honcharenko.
“Ladies' Happiness”, Emile Zola

In the novel “Ladies' Happiness”, Emile Zola tells with all his expressiveness about the formation of retail trade, competition and love. Here you will learn about the traps that gullible department store customers so easily fall for. At the same time, it is a touching love story of a simple saleswoman from the provinces to the owner of a large and luxurious store, the prototype of which can still be admired by visiting the Parisian department store Printemps. Both the background and one of the main characters of the novel are Paris: its reconstruction, farewell to the moldy past, the discovery of the expanses of the future. The novel formed the basis of five feature films and TV series, so it definitely deserves attention.
