Manet was famous for his ability to simplify details and freely use brushstrokes. A significant part of his artwork is devoted to cafe scenes and depicts the lifestyle of the upper echelons of society. Many of the artist's works are inspired by leisure: observing public life in all classes, from bourgeois horse races to the drunkenness of prostitutes, Parisian streets and boating scenes.
