Édouard Manet is one of the most famous French artists of the 19th century and a key figure in art history who contributed to the transition from realism to impressionism.
Edouard Manet
Manet was famous for his ability to simplify details and freely use brushstrokes. A significant part of his artwork is devoted to cafe scenes and depicts the lifestyle of the upper echelons of society. Many of the artist's works are inspired by leisure: observing public life in all classes, from bourgeois horse races to the drunkenness of prostitutes, Parisian streets and boating scenes. January 23 marks the 194th anniversary of the artist's birth, in honor of which vogue.ua recalls 10 of his masterpieces.
