Wooden-soled clogs are back in fashion. After a brief comeback last year, when Chloé and Miu Miu brought the silhouette back to life, the 1970s-inspired style has cemented itself as one of the key trends for spring 2026, seen on the runways of Bottega Veneta, Simone Rocha, and Zimmermann.

Wooden-soled clogs have humble origins. The history of these shoes dates back to the 13th century, when they served as protection for Dutch farmers from heavy industrial equipment. Wooden flip-flops were also worn in feudal Japan to keep feet and kimono hems free from mud and rain. In the late 1960s and 1970s, these shoes once again became a staple of the bohemian wardrobe.

This year, they're back in style, in classic leather and suede versions, as well as modern interpretations with sheer details and crystal embellishments. Pair platform clogs with dresses and statement skirts, or pair them with low heels to complement jeans and shorts. They go with just about anything.
