Pistachio has already passed its peak of popularity. Tomato red lost its relevance a few seasons ago. Then the trend turned to butter yellow, which quickly lost popularity to lemon after Hailey Bieber launched a themed collection for her beauty brand Rhode. This season, a new trendy color is fresh mint, reminiscent of the shade of toothpaste. That is why this trend was called toothpaste dressing.

“I feel like a mermaid,” said Love Story actress Sarah Pidgeon in a comment to Vogue. She was talking about her Chanel Métiers d'art 2026 Mathieu Blasi slip dress, which she chose for her first Oscars. “This color is like toothpaste. But a very stylish toothpaste,” Dua Lipa also supported the trend, appearing in a Roberto Cavalli floral dress in a teal shade and accessorized with mint boots.

Chanel spring-summer 2026
Mint green and cool pale blue shades have been trying to establish themselves among fashion trends for several seasons. On the spring-summer 2025 catwalks, mint replaced pale pink as the main pastel shade. It was mainly used in transparent fabrics and soft tonal combinations. At Fendi, light organza dresses were shown. At Chanel, against the backdrop of the green decorations of the Grand Palais, mint tweed suits and pale blue capes appeared. Designer Johanna Parv, who works in London, used light green in sporty silhouettes and functional fabrics, combining aesthetics with practicality. In the autumn-winter 2025/2026 season, pastel colors replaced the usual dark winter palette, adding lightness to heavy looks. This was noticeable at Givenchy and Stella McCartney, where mint appeared on structured silhouettes paired with classic browns and charcoal grays.

In 2026, mint green was combined with jade, moss and other natural shades of green. This formed a wider fashion trend for an organic green palette. Cool blue shades also became an important part of this direction. Simone Rocha's spring-summer 2026 collection featured icy chiffon dresses with floral and pearl details. At Dior, this shade was used in architectural dresses and shoes.
Chanel was the one who most accurately beat the idea of toothpaste dressing. The collection featured shoes with mint socks and bags in light, as if foamy shades. These colors appeared on knitted skirts, macramé belts, boucle dresses and tweed jackets. Against the background of red, pink, gold and gray colors, mint stood out with its freshness and modernity. Green shoes became part of the interest in the first collection of Mathieu Blasi for Chanel, which has already appeared in stores.
Fruity Booty
Independent brands are also actively working with mint. “Our creative director, Jazz Mignone, is constantly falling in love with new shades,” says Hetty Tennant, founder of Fruity Booty. “She chose mint a year ago, but due to manufacturing processes, it came a little later – at a very good time.”
Fruity Booty first used mint for the fall-winter 2025/2026 season. “In the cold season, clothes are more restrained, and mint refreshes the entire palette,” adds Tennant. The brand combines it with transparent tops, translucent shorts and lace. Even a small mint accent has a fresh look and suits different types of appearance.

Mint is a tricky color to style: it can feel too sterile or associated with medical clothing. “Light blues and greens are not the easiest to work with – this color quickly begins to resemble a hospital uniform,” says designer Brooke Callahan. Working with the brand Hai, she turned to silk, which allows for experimentation with shape and adds sophistication to looks. “The right choice of mint blue always attracts attention,” adds Callahan.

“Mint is a color that suits every skin tone,” says designer Lucille Safdie. She used the color in her Alice hoops. She then added it to her clothing collection, along with shades of raspberry and pastel yellow. Her pieces—microshorts, bodysuits, and voluminous-sleeved polos—reminiscent of the aesthetic of Sofia Coppola's films.
For other designers, mint is about boldness. For Fall 2026, Fidan Novruzova, inspired by Tamara de Lempicka, explores modern femininity through structured shirts and combinations with sporty elements. The collection includes mint shirts, polo dresses and boleros with mint accents. Together with red, azure and caramel, this shade creates the image of a confident woman. At Paloma Wool Fall-Winter 2026/2027, mint appears in classic silhouettes.
Romance and playfulness are making a comeback, while the clean girl aesthetic is slowly fading. Toothpaste dressing can be worn as a full mint look or as an accent. Either way, this shade refreshes basics and pairs easily with bright colors—one of the key trends for 2026.
