Over the past three years, adidas sneakers have undoubtedly become the favorite shoes of celebrities and not only. After the global triumph of the Samba and the return of the Taekwondo model, the brand does not stop and draws our attention to the most fashionable sneakers of 2016 – the adidas Superstar model. The most convincing proof of the return of this pair to the fashion arena is the appearance of Adriana Lima last year in these sneakers in Milan during the Fall-Winter 2025/2026 Fashion Week. And today these sneakers are chosen by new heroes.

Following Adriana Lima, Kendall Jenner stepped out in the Superstar in Los Angeles. She paired it with joggers, a bra top, and a retro adidas jacket, adding to the sporty vibe. The outing coincided with the release of the first teaser for the new Superstar campaign, which stars Samuel L. Jackson as he searches for his perfect match.

The adidas brand archives are virtually inexhaustible. It is from there that the story of numerous sports hits begins. Inspired by the brand's first basketball models – All Round, Super Grip and Pro Model – the Superstar appeared as an attempt by the German brand to conquer the American market. After the success of the Stan Smith, created in collaboration with the French tennis player Robert Gayet, adidas decided to strengthen its position in basketball. The real breakthrough came during the 1968-1969 season, when the Boston Celtics won the NBA title, performing in the Superstar. Since then, these sneakers have had a cult status, and later – fashion legitimacy, becoming part of the aesthetics of the hip-hop scene, in particular thanks to the band Run DMC.

For decades, the Superstar has been a blank canvas for design experimentation. In 2003, Japanese designer Nigo, founder of the brand A Bathing Ape, reimagined the model in the Super Ape Star series. In 2020, Prada introduced a new interpretation, giving the silhouette a modern sound.

Today, Superstar once again confirms its status as a fashion icon – in a classic interpretation, on the feet of the most popular models and street fashionistas.
