The miniskirt is making a comeback in the spring-summer 2026 season. And not just any miniskirt, but a denim one. The kind that had its moment of glory in the 2000s and was a favorite of pop stars.

From the beginning, the miniskirt was more than just a piece of clothing. In the 1960s, it became a symbol of freedom and independence, allowing women to move more freely and openly express themselves.
Over the years, this silhouette has transformed: from bright vinyl micro versions to trapezoidal and boho models in the 1970s, to glamorous, tight and shiny variations in the 1980s. However, today it is the aesthetics of the 2000s that have become a key reference for designers.

In the 2000s, the denim miniskirt became a cultural phenomenon. It was worn by icons of show business, from Britney Spears to Paris Hilton, in music videos and in everyday life. It quickly became synonymous with sexiness and “coolness”, and was increasingly popular thanks to the now cult series “Sex and the City” and “Gossip Girl”.

The current generation of fashionistas is fascinated by this decade and perceives it almost as a lost ideal—a mythologized period of carefreeness that cannot be recreated literally, but can be reinterpreted through fashion.
It's no wonder that designers are actively restoring the denim miniskirt to its respectable status. In his debut for Dior, Jonathan Anderson presented a whole series of micro models – laconic and classic, emphasizing the silhouette.

The trend was also picked up by brands closely associated with the 2000s aesthetic, in particular 7 For All Mankind: their skirts became even shorter and made of slightly bleached denim typical of that era.

Young designers offer their own interpretations: from the light blue mini in a restrained office aesthetic to more classic shapes. At Isabel Marant, the miniskirt has acquired a boho mood – a recognizable brand code.

With this powerful fashion comeback, the denim miniskirt has every chance of becoming a summer wardrobe staple—whether you're vacationing on the beach or on the streets of fashion capitals. The question is, are you ready to bring it back into your closet now?
