As part of the new Ukrainian Fashion Week season, one of the most important events for young designers took place – the announcement of the winner of The Culture of Design 2.0 award, created in collaboration with fashion retailer INTERTOP. The initiative is aimed at supporting a new generation of Ukrainian designers and discovering new names in the modern fashion industry.

On March 14, at the Mystetsky Arsenal, the jury announced the winner of this year's award – designer Nika Kuznetsova. She received a cash prize of 150,000 hryvnias, as well as the opportunity to create an author's collection, which will be developed and presented in the INTERTOP chain of stores. “I still do not fully realize the scale of this opportunity – to create a collection that will be seen by all of Ukraine. At the same time, I am sure that in it people will feel a subtle connection between freedom and their own “self”,” the winner comments.

This year, The Culture of Design platform aroused considerable interest among young designers: over 30 applications were submitted, from which the jury formed a short list of five finalists. The jury included: CEO of INTERTOP Ukraine Serhiy Badritdinov, designer and creative director of the Poustovit brand Liliya Pustovit, head of the Communications Department of Ukrainian Fashion Week Yelizaveta Ushcheka, and CMO INTERTOP Ukraine Anton Bokyi.

“For INTERTOP, it is important not only to respond to trends, but also to shape the future of Ukrainian fashion. Supporting young designers is our strategic mission, because it is new names that create meanings that determine the development of the industry. The Culture of Design project provides an opportunity to combine a creative idea with a real business and give it scale,” notes Serhiy Badritdinov.

The upcoming collection is called All Is Full of Knit – a concept of things made entirely of knitted material, where each thread continues the next, forming a single composition. The idea of the collection is built on a metaphor: each person consists of threads of their own experiences, emotions and decisions, which together form an individual style.

“The Culture of Design project is a unique initiative that combines the creative energy of young designers with the capabilities of large retail. Having debuted last year, the award has become an example of effective synergy between business and the fashion industry,” comments Iryna Danylevska, co-founder and CEO of Ukrainian Fashion Week.
