At the Chanel Haute Couture show, the first from Mathieu Blasi after the successful prêt-à-porter and Métiers d'art collections, bags unexpectedly came to the fore. They are rarely seen in couture collections, but this time the accessory became a true symbol of perfection. The new creative director decided to break with established tradition by presenting a fresh interpretation of the iconic Timeless bag.

In the 1980s, Karl Lagerfeld created the 11.12 bag, called Timeless, one of the most famous models in the fashion world. It inherited the functional lines and timeless aesthetic of the 2.55, invented by Coco Chanel in 1955, with its recognizable chain and classic quilted finish. The difference from the 2.55 is the double C-clasp, conceived as a jewelry element.

Season after season, the 11.12 bag has been transformed under the influence of each creative director: from Lagerfeld to Virginie Viard and now Mathieu Blazy. This time, in the Haute Couture collection, the bag has become an extension of the silhouette: the first look of the show, a transparent suit, is a modern interpretation of the classic codes of the house, while emphasizing the freedom of movement of the woman.

The Timeless bag appears in layers of transparent silk muslin in delicate shades or in light tweed – pink, nude and bright red. It ceases to be just an accessory and turns into a real manifesto of individuality. Mathieu Blasi suggested that the models write anything they want on the silk insert: a mantra, a zodiac sign, a love letter. After all, isn’t that the essence of Haute Couture – when every little thing is created to order?
