Met Gala 2026 has already become history and it was remembered, in particular, for the image of Isha Ambani – the daughter of the richest man in India. On the red carpet of the ball, she not only demonstrated the beauty of a traditional Indian costume, but also took out rare jewelry from the family treasury. We tried to count how many thousands of carats Ambani brought to New York for this brilliant in every sense of the word.

When it comes to the Ambani family, the concept of “luxury” takes on a whole new dimension. Isha Ambani's look was a true triumph of jewelry art and Indian heritage, combining family heirlooms and modern design. The key element was the jewelry of Nita Ambani, Isha's mother, which her daughter borrowed for the outing. The centerpiece was a diamond necklace weighing a total of 150 carats with a retro cut. Isha's neck was adorned with an exquisite Lorraine Schwartz choker with a majestic 50-carat emerald.

A real work of art in the image of Isha Ambani was the choli – a short, fitted blouse with short or long sleeves, which in India is worn with a sari. It fits tightly to the body, leaving the stomach open, and is an integral part of a woman's wardrobe, often generously decorated with embroidery. In this case, the choli was decorated with 1000 diamonds, the total weight of which exceeds 1800 carats. 40 craftsmen from all over India worked on the creation of this masterpiece. All the stones also come from Nita Ambani's personal collection.
Isha showed a creative approach to tradition by transforming a sarpech — a traditional turban ornament that used to belong to the Nizam of Hyderabad — into a top back decoration. The product is inlaid with emerald beads and diamonds in the kundan technique. This is a unique Indian method in which stones are cut so that one side is flat and fixed in a gold frame without the use of the usual lugs (krapans). The look would be incomplete without accent accessories. The set was completed with massive chandelier earrings and two diamond rings, the size of which is already jokingly compared on social networks to the head of a baby. In her hands, Isha held a mango-shaped bag — the work of the famous artist Subodh Gupta.
Interestingly, the look was created by two prominent artists with the same last name: fashion designer Gaurav Gupta was responsible for the outfit, and artist Subodh Gupta for the accessories. Despite the same last name, they are not related, but their synergy created one of the most expensive and most talked-about looks in the history of the MET GALA.
