From sandals and sweaters to dresses and jackets, the “grandma” aesthetic has been experiencing a real renaissance lately. Interest in vintage is increasingly shaping the modern wardrobe, and with it the desire to invest in quality, timeless things instead of those whose value is primarily determined by loud logos. Now this trend has reached accessories: the 1950s-style bag has become one of the key heroines of the autumn-winter 2026/2027 catwalks. Elegant and clearly structured, today it goes beyond the boundaries of traditional style and increasingly appears in contrasting combinations with modern, even daring looks.

The 1950s-style bag resembles a classic “grandma's” handbag – timelessly elegant and very feminine. It has a rigid, often trapezoidal shape, a metal clasp and short handles, thanks to which it is carried in the hand or on the crook of the elbow. This is how the models demonstrated it at the Gucci fall-winter 2026/2027 show – in minimalist versions made of leather or with crocodile embossing. The brand's creative director Demna advises combining it with ultra-short and tight dresses.

Bottega Veneta also showed a modern interpretation of the accessory, where the “grandma's” bag became that classic, almost understated element that makes the look timeless. Creative Director Louise Trotter interpreted it using the iconic Intrecciato weave – one of the main symbols of the brand's craftsmanship.

In the Dolce&Gabbana collection, the model appeared in a doctor bag format – a more compact but roomy version.
