The square toe, which only yesterday seemed like a niche trend for insiders, is now officially taking over the fashion agenda—and Chanel is the main credit for it. For the Spring-Summer 2026 collection, the iconic House reinvented its most famous pair—the two-tone pumps—turning them into the hottest footwear of the season, hunted by influencers, stylists, and It-girls around the world. There’s simply no more obvious footwear favorite this season—and here’s why.

It was clear during Paris Fashion Week that Chanel's new collection would cause a stir. But no one expected it to turn into a real fashion hysteria. As soon as the spring-summer collection appeared in the legendary boutique on Rue Cambon, it instantly became an object of desire. “I've never seen anything like it,” wrote Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, star fashion editor and stylist of the cover and cover story of Vogue Ukraine Edition 12, describing the chaos in the store and the endless messages in chats where industry insiders shared their purchases.

A few days later, the same scenario repeated itself in New York: the collection was literally swept off the shelves. Among the main hits were reinterpreted jackets and “vintage-aged” bags, but the real object of the hunt was the shoes. In particular, the legendary square slingbacks, which were given a completely new life.

Creative director Mathieu Blasi has abandoned the usual romanticism in favor of a more graphic, clear silhouette. The iconic two-tone pair has been reinvented: now it is higher heels, tougher lines and the main accent is a square toe, which sets a new tone for the entire fashion conversation. The effect turned out to be as fresh as possible, almost provocative. Today, these shoes are almost impossible to find on sale – they are sold out faster than they reach the boutique shelves.
What is their strength? Balance. They are classic enough to wear every day – with jeans, suits or light dresses. But at the same time, fashionable enough to instantly elevate any look with a distinctive accent. The square toe adds graphicity, and the two-tone design adds the same recognizable elegance that we love Chanel for. It seems that in 2026, this particular pair will become the new fashion constant – as iconic as the once legendary 2.55 bag. And if you are planning to invest in one pair of shoes this season, the answer is already obvious.
