This trend is already everyone's talking about—and it's the most unexpected. At Chanel's cruise show in Biarritz, new creative director Mathieu Blasi took the “wrong shoe theory” to the extreme—and it could completely change the way we wear sandals this summer.

This concept is built on the idea of choosing the most unexpected shoes to make the look more expressive and interesting. That is exactly what the sandals that Blasi showed on the sandy catwalk were – defiantly unexpected. On the models' feet – minimalist designs made of thin straps that wrap around the ankle, complemented by small heels, made in gold, silver or black.

These models fit perfectly into the context of the show, which took place in Biarritz, the city where Gabrielle Chanel once opened her fashion house and presented her first collections. The new sandals embody controlled freedom, the spirit thanks to which the designer once changed the idea of feminine elegance and helped women free themselves from fashion conventions.
